Youth Welfare Officer (Swansea)

Do you want to be part of an exciting project providing Advocacy, Mentoring and Participation funded by the National Lottery Community Fund to provide a holistic approach to giving Refugees the support, knowledge and skills they need to build resilence and thrive? Through our projects, young people will understand their rights and entitlements, how systems work, and be offered opportunities for integration and personal development which will combat isolation, promote empowerment, and improve wellbeing. Project staff are home based and the service may in part be provided remotely.

Summary:

We are currently recruiting for a Part Time Youth Welfare Officer in Swansea to be part of the Migrant Help funded UK Youth Welfare Officer Project. The Officers will provide a stable point of contact for young people seeking asylum aged 18 -25 living in Home Office Initial Accommodation, including those given an age of 18+ but who claim to be children, supporting them to access social and emotional support, and services and to understand systems and processes. You will be joining a team working on an exciting range of Projects providing a holistic approach to giving young Asylum Seekers and Refugees the support, knowledge and skills they need to build resilience and thrive.

About Us:

TGP Cymru is a Wales based charity working with children, young people and families and has been providing services across Wales for 20 years

Type of contract: Temporary until June 2026

Location: Home Based with hot desk facilities in Swansea

Salary: £23500 pro rata

Hours: 24 hours per week

Closing Date: 6pm 06/05/2024
