Care and Repair Carmarthenshire is a Home Improvement Agency whose traditional service is helping the county’s older people to maintain and adapt their homes. We now require a ‘Help to Move’ Co-ordinator, a motivated individual, qualified to ‘A level’ standard, to develop a new service which will assist people to move from their existing home into accommodation more suited to their needs.
Care and Repair Carmarthenshire is an independent, not for profit home improvement Agency funded by the Welsh Government, Carmarthenshire County Council and the Big Lottery.
Our role is to assist older people over the age of 60 and disabled adults who live in private sector housing by providing advice and practical assistance with regards to repairs, renovations, maintenance and adaptations to their homes enabling them to live independently in a safe, warm and secure home.
This is achieved by a committed team of staff that provides advice on housing repair solutions, home maintenance, adaptations, security, heating, energy efficiency and possible sources of funding for completing work. Welfare benefits advice is offered to maximise a client’s income.
Technical expertise is given on all aspects of building works including the selection of suitable builders, effective tendering to compare prices and the monitoring of works whilst on site.
The agency maintains a register of reliable contractors for ordering work and referring to clients. Care and Repair Carmarthenshire strives to support the local economy, where possible.
Working closely with the Agency’s Caseworkers and Local Authority Housing staff, you will have an opportunity to build a service delivery model that could influence future national policy and procedure.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential.
