ACE is hosting an exciting new role which will support and develop a community development plan with the Together Trust programme in St Mellons and Trowbridge. The Community Development Officer will be line managed by ACE and report to the Together TRuST Steering Group.

About ACE:

ACE – Action in Caerau and Ely is a community organisation located in West Cardiff. We have over 1000 local members, many of whom are active contributors to local community development and regeneration efforts. Over half our staff team live in Ely and Caerau. We base our work on the following principles:

  • Local people know their community best
  • Everyone has something unique to contribute
  • Everyone’s contribution should be valued equally
  • Poverty should not be accepted as a fact of life
  • Social injustice should be challenged and changed

About the TogetherTRuST:

Trowbridge and St. Mellons make up the ward of Trowbridge, one of 13 areas across Wales to receive £1 Million to help residents make their community a better place to live.  Known as Invest Local, this programme is funded by the Big Lottery, managed by Building Communities Trustee Ltd (BCT) and is led by residents.

Together TRuST is a steering group made up of local residents and community groups.  A key role of the group is to make sure that as many people as possible find out about Invest Local and have the chance to be involved.  Over the last 2 years the group has met regularly to find out what is important to the community and to organise activities and events to raise awareness.

Job Role:

To work alongside the TogetherTRuST steering group and the local community across Trowbridge and St Mellons to develop and implement priorities as outlined in the Together TRuST Driving Change Plan. This plan sets out the first stage of planned expenditure and activities funded through £1m of Building Communities Trust (Big Lottery) funding over the next 10 years.

Contract type:  Fixed Term (3 years)

Location:  Trowbridge and St Mellons

*Hours:  30 hours a week with opportunity for full time (37.5).  Flexible approach to working out of normal office hours – please note the post holder will be required to frequently work evenings and weekends.

Reporting arrangements:  The postholder will be line managed by Action in Caerau and Ely (ACE) and report to TogetherTRuST Steering Group.
