Fuel poverty and cold homes impact many thousands of householders in Wales. 70+ Cymru, funded by Energy Redress, works with older people who are owner occupiers or private renters. We have two new roles, one covering North East Wales and one covering North West Wales.
We provide a ‘holistic’ service which means that we try to support clients not just in relation to specific works, but also in relation to any other work, assistance or intervention which the client would benefit from. This can include signposting to other organisations who can assist in areas that we are unable to.
Services include assisting you to improve, repair or adapt your home and are available to individuals aged 60 or over, or of any age with a disability. Some services may be chargeable dependant on eligibility.
You will be employed by a Care & Repair agency and will work within your region to tackle fuel poverty and improve the warmth and well-being of older people in Wales. Successful candidates will be part of a Wales-wide project to reduce fuel poverty and increase home energy efficiency for homeowners aged 70+ years.
You will have a good understanding of difficulties faced by older people and an interest in home energy efficiency. You will use your interpersonal skills to improve the lives of older people and you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to making a difference. Your day-to-day work will provide older people who are in or at risk of fuel poverty with comprehensive, specialist advice and support. As part of our 70+ Cymru team, you will be trained and supported to develop your existing knowledge and skills around fuel poverty and energy efficiency in Wales.
This role includes home visiting, casework, domestic energy assessments (with some internal ladder use), connecting with local organisations and wider fuel poverty initiatives across Wales. You will champion the fuel poverty cause with local and regional stakeholders and make a key contribution to the success of the 70+ Cymru project and team and the Care & Repair movement nationally.
