Based at our hospice in Whitchurch, the successful applicant will work alongside another Welfare Rights Officer in offering a holistic approach to patients’ welfare. This will include maximising income through the appropriate range of benefits, providing advocacy support and completion of applications in other social welfare areas such as community care, housing, employment and debt.

City Hospice is the only specialist palliative care provider for the city of Cardiff.  We help over 1,000 patients plus our services are provided free of charge.  As a Charity we need to raise a total of £2m each year to continue to provide our specialist services.

Job Role

As part of the multi-disciplinary team, you will need to demonstrate knowledge and experience of working with vulnerable people, especially those with life limiting conditions.

Essential requirements include an extensive specialist knowledge across a range of welfare benefits and experience of undertaking appeals together with the ability to manage a high clinical caseload. Excellent time management and prioritising skills to meet deadlines and the ability to effectively communicate with healthcare professionals, patients, and their families.
