The Association for Fostering and Adoption Cymru (AFA Cymru) is looking to recruit a Trainer Consultant.
The Association for Fostering and Adoption Cymru (AFA Cymru) is part of the legal entity of St. David’s Children Society and provides a range of training and consultancy services in relation to permanency planning for Welsh children.
We work from a theoretical perspective that is based on an understanding of attachment and trauma, and how poor early years experiences can impact children and young people throughout their lives.
We believe that permanency for children transcends their legal status and we deliver training, consultancy and advice across the full permanency spectrum – from reunification to birth parents, through foster and kinship care and special guardianship, to adoption.
AFA Cymru works closely with the National Adoption Service and Welsh Government.
We are looking to appoint a qualified social worker who can demonstrate experience in childcare practice including knowledge and experience of fostering and adoption practice.
Ideally, the successful candidate will also have experience of delivering training and accompanying evidence of training achievements, although this is not essential. What is essential is experience of working within the permanency arena and a desire to promote good practice in securing permanency for children in Wales.
AFA Cymru’s main office is located in Abercynon however we have use of office space in central Cardiff and in addition, we are currently operating a Hybrid working policy – supporting you to flexibly deliver your role, either through face to face training commissions and workshops, from an office or your home.
We offer competitive employment benefits and excellent conditions of service including active promotion of training and development and a supportive team environment.
Please note: Whilst the majority of our training is delivered online, some travel throughout Wales will be required.
