Summary:

We are an independent voluntary organisation providing a support service to disabled people living in four South Wales local authorities.  We are recruiting a Direct Payments Advisor to join our existing team in our Upper Boat office near Pontypridd.  The starting salary of £19,446 is for the nine months probationary period and until such time as the trainee has achieved sufficient skills and knowledge to carry out the role of a Direct Payments Advisor.  At this point, they will transfer to the appropriate salary scale and rise through increments. The post comes with 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays.

Job Role:

This is an interesting and rewarding post with full training given in all areas.  A Direct Payments Advisor works closely with an individual on a one-to-one basis providing advice, information, training & support on using direct payments and employing personal care assistants.  The job involves, meeting individual disabled people referred to the service, report writing, job planning, budget planning & problem-solving.  Advisors will be familiar with community care as it impacts on disabled people and children; will work closely with partners in Social Services; be trained and understand employment law, Inland Revenue procedures, PAYE, and become well acquainted with community care in general.  The job involves external visits therefore Advisors must have access to their own transport.

A successful applicant will have initiative, be highly motivated with excellent standards of written and verbal communication, have good interpersonal skills, be computer literate and able to demonstrate numerical and computational skills, be quick learners in adapting to the work of the team.  You need to be a good team player and be able to work positively with our partners in social services.  You will also be able to manage your own caseload.

Persons appointed will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure.
