Valleys Kids is recruiting a Play Worker to deliver sessions at our Dinas Community and Family Hub in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
Valleys Kids has a 43 year long successful track record of innovative community development initiatives. We began working in a whitewashed coal cellar in Penygraig with two staff on a job share and a handful of volunteers in 1977. Now we have 34 staff, over 100 volunteers, 4 community hubs, a residential centre on the Gower and 3 social enterprises including, The Factory, a centre for creative industries in Porth, the Play Yard in Treorchy and The Old Library in Penygraig. Our turnover is around £1.5 million per annum.
We have changed the lives of thousands of individuals across the South Wales Valleys. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to move from dependence to independence regardless of social, economic or geographic disadvantage.
Working with groups of children up to the age of 13 years, in openaccess, free-play After School sessions and junior youth sessions. Play has a vital role to play in the development of healthy children and the worker will have a lead role in developing a programme of stimulating and fun, play provision that will include free-play sessions and arts and crafts. The staff member will also be responsible for facilitating a weekly Parent and Toddler session.
Duration: 3 year fixed term contract
Holidays: 25 working days per year plus statutory holidays.
