Planning Aid Wales is looking to recruit a Planning Assistant – Place Plans, homeworking post ideally based in North Wales.  This is an exciting new role that will provide direct support to communities taking a proactive approach to planning.

About Us:

Planning Aid Wales is the charity funded by Welsh Government to help communities understand and engage with the land use planning system in Wales.

We provide a range of impartial services including training, networking events, guidance, advice, and community engagement support.  Through delivering these services, we help give people a voice in the planning system and thereby help to create a more equal Wales with more cohesive communities.

Job Role:

The post-holder will work with the Planning Aid Wales staff team to provide direct support to Community and Town Councils that are currently preparing Place Plans, including providing ongoing support to a specific Place Plan project in Conwy.  The post-holder will also help to raise awareness and understanding of Place Plan preparation across Wales.

The role will involve supporting the delivery of planning training and community engagement events, conducting planning policy research, and analysing a wide range of data to help communities derive their own evidence-based planning policy documents.  The post-holder will help raise awareness of Place Plans by supporting the preparation of reports, videos and other guidance materials that explore and describe Place Plan preparation.

You will be passionate about the potential of planning to create more sustainable places and communities.  You will be joining a dynamic third sector organisation working to make planning accessible and relevant to local communities.  You will share our passion for creativity and innovation.  You will enjoy working with people to generate enthusiasm for positive change.

Additional Information:

Contract:  Full time (37hrs), 18-month contract (may be extended subject to funding).

Job-share welcome / Flexible / Family-friendly hours.

Homeworking, ideally based in North Wales / able to travel to Conwy.
