A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen at the Welsh Refugee Council. We are looking for a Fundraising and Business Development Officer to help shape and develop the capacity and infrastructure of the organisation.
With 25 years of experience, the Welsh Refugee Council is committed to protecting the human rights of asylum seekers and refugees in Wales. We work to:
- evidence our effectiveness to stakeholders,
- positively influence perceptions of asylum and migration in Wales,
- meet the needs of asylum seekers and refugees in Wales and
- create active participation of asylum seekers and refugees.

To create a Wales where refugees are welcomed and have access to protection, safety and dignity.
Asylum seekers and refugees arrive in Wales fleeing persecution, conflict, torture, rape and abuse from across the Globe. Our work at the Welsh Refugee Council relies on a specialist approach, where one-to-one contact is provided, where the improvement of the lives of those seeking sanctuary is a priority and where the drive to influence policy and best practice is unfailing.
We are passionate about supporting people who are seeking sanctuary and are dedicated to promoting positive perceptions of migration across Wales. Our core group of dedicated staff and volunteers underpins the Welsh Refugee Council’s continued success and collectively our aim is to create a Wales where refugees are welcomed and treated with dignity and respect.
The main purpose of the role is to help grow new and existing sources of income, and to support business development and fundraising. The postholder will support the senior management team in implementing a fundraising and income generation strategy, with the aim of securing income to deliver the organisation’s mission and contributing to its sustainability. To be successful in this role you will need to have demonstrable experience of successful fundraising and business support, be enthusiastic and driven, identifying and pursuing new business opportunities for the organisation as well as provide excellent project management. You will also need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to ensure that these opportunities become a reality.
