Victim Support

Victim Support is looking for a full time Victim Focus Officer based in Cardiff.

The purpose of the role is to provide direct support to victims of crime ensuring that South Wales Victim Focus realise their aim of helping people cope and recover from the effects of crime.

About Us:

Victim Support (VS) is an independent charity for people affected by crime in England and Wales. We work towards a world where people affected by crime or traumatic events get the support they need and respect they deserve.

South Wales Victim Focus serves diverse communities, many of whom experience a range of barriers that may impact on their ability to cope and recover from what they have experienced. These can include financial distress; social isolation; reduced mobility; mental and physical health issues; substance use and lack of opportunity. South Wales Victim Focus aims to identify what matters to service users and empower them to take control of their journey.

The nature of service required will vary depending on individual circumstances and will range from short term intervention to deal with specific issues to more regular on-going interventions addressing a range of needs and/or supporting individuals through a lengthy criminal justice process.

Job Role:

The post holder will deliver needs led support to victims of crime and provide peer support to volunteers who are engaged in supporting service users.  The Victim Focus Officers work with a range of external partners, including the police, statutory agencies and other third sector organisations developing strong links in the community to meet the needs of service users.

Reporting directly to the Victim Focus Manager, the post holder will assist in the implementation of work force plans and the development of the service to maximise positive outcomes for those that access the service.

If you have the drive to make a difference within an organisation which makes a difference we look forward to hearing from you.
