The Business and Marketing Advisor will work alongside the North and South Wales Development Workers and the Community Supported Agriculture Development Worker. The Wales Manager and Administrator will manage project delivery and ensure the project targets are met. Tyfu Fyny staff will also work closely with our other project teams, Community Land Advisory Service Cymru and Growing Together.
You would be joining a new organisation which is the result of a merger between two existing charities:
- The Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens – a UK-wide charity, established in 1980, with a strong track record in partnership and project working. It provided support services and advocacy for community managed farms and gardens which have become increasingly popular in the last few decades – today there are more than 2,500 of these local groups and an extensive community growing sector.
- Care Farming UK: was set up to promote and support Care Farming – the use of farming activities for therapeutic purposes. Care farms provide health, social or educational care services for individuals from one or a range of vulnerable groups. It provided a central voice and supportive services for care farmers, to inspire decision makers.
The role of Business and Marketing Advisor will be focused on delivering capacity building activities to the community growing sector in Wales. The postholder is required to be flexible and adaptable, with a solid understanding of business planning and processes and the ability to research, analyse and present information that can benefit individual community projects and the broader sector.
This post will mainly involve office-based work but an amount of travelling around Wales to visit community groups, attend meetings and events and work with partners will be required.
Contract: Fixed term to 31 May 2019. This post is funded by the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the Welsh Government and the European Union.
*Location: Flexible – We have offices in North, Mid and South Wales. There will be occasional travel to Bristol and across the UK.
